African Union government should wait, says SADC

SOUTHERN African Development Community (SADC) member states are of the view that the proposed establishment of an African Union government should wait until the African continent attains higher levels of both economic and political integration.

The SADC region also said it supported the extra-ordinary executive council’s decision that an all-inclusive audit of the African Union Commission should be conducted to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the AU before deciding whether it should be replaced or not. SADC outgoing chairman, Pakalitha Mosisili, said this yesterday when he addressed the ongoing AU heads of state and government summit in Accra, Ghana.

cairo3.gifI am currently traveling to Algiers, and I had to sleep in Cairo for one night. I will be heading to Algiers this afternoon. I have been hearing about Egypt and always wanted to be here, but definitely not yesterday. Egypt is popular for its Pyramids and in the bible times for its unique relationship with Israel. Entering Cairo was for me a unique opportunity.

After a long 3 and half hours wait for an entry Visa and hotel to be processed, I finally got into Cairo city at 11.45pm. I was amazed by the size of the airport and how seriously the security people did their work. However, I was thinking more about Nigeria and the heart of Africa project.
